Photo by Vienna Reyes on Unsplash
Miami is no longer just a city that hosts great parties — it's hosting the world. Hundreds of thousands of international visitors have descended on South Florida for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with seven marquee matches anchoring the region as one of the tournament's premier destinations. The 23-day FIFA Fan Festival at Bayfront Park is running at full tilt, serving as the heartbeat of the city's World Cup experience with live match screenings on massive LED displays, concerts, and cultural activations that stretch well into the night. For local professionals, this isn't just a spectator moment — it's a signal that the infrastructure investments, hospitality buildout, and global positioning Miami has been grinding toward for the better part of a decade are paying off in the most visible way possible. Economists are projecting a multi-billion dollar regional boost, and this Saturday's Portugal vs. Colombia clash at Hard Rock Stadium is poised to be the weekend's main event, full stop.

CITADEL

📍1201 Brickell Bay Drive, Miami, FL 33131
If there was ever any remaining doubt about Miami's standing as a serious financial capital, Ken Griffin's latest move should put it to rest. Citadel has unveiled an updated $2.5 billion plan for its global headquarters at 1201 Brickell Bay Drive — a nearly all-office tower stretching 1.6 million square feet that reflects just how aggressively the firm has grown its workforce since departing Chicago. This isn't a satellite office or a hedge against taxes; it's a full-throated commitment to the idea of Miami as Wall Street South, and it anchors the Brickell skyline — and the city's professional identity — for a generation. Refresh Miami — Coral Gables-based infrastructure investor Carolina Muñoz López breaks down why Miami's AI ambitions could collide with its power, cooling, and water constraints within a decade. Most AI coverage focuses on software. This is the piece covering the physical systems underneath everything — and why South Florida may be better positioned for smaller data centers than the mega-campuses chasing those contracts. Magie Is Worth The Wait
📍8281 NE 2nd Ave, Little River, and 3540 Main Hwy, Coconut Grove.
Instagram: @magiewinebar
The walk-in wine bar that Ivan Barros and Caroline Strauss opened in Little River has become one of the most talked-about neighborhood spots in Miami — not because of a splashy launch or a celebrity investor, but because it quietly got everything right. Natural wine by the glass or bottle. Aperitivo-style snacks pulled from a self-service fridge — tinned fish, good cheese, olives, the occasional caviar if you want to go there. A garden out back that feels nothing like the rest of Miami.
Barros is a Miami native who ran the kitchen at Amara at Paraiso and won season two of Food Network's Ciao House. Strauss built her career in global hospitality operations for SLS and now serves as director of hospitality for the Citadel. Their second location in Coconut Grove opened earlier this year. Both are walk-in only. Both close late. The new hook this spring is Tu Casa Sundays — a weekly day party from 1 to 9PM at both locations, built around Micheladas, mimosas, lawn games, a hotdog bar from Proper Sausages, and a come-as-you-are ethos that has nothing to do with brunch culture. The duo is also opening Bar Fideo, a Spanish-market-style bar, steps away from the Little River original later this year. Learn more →

If you still haven't locked down a table at Walrus Rodeo, consider this your standing order to fix that this weekend. The wood-fired follow-up from the Michelin-starred team behind Boia De has settled firmly into its spot as one of Miami's most exciting and difficult reservations, drawing a sophisticated crowd to the rapidly evolving 55th Street Station corridor in Little Haiti. The menu is the kind that rewards adventurous eaters — think spicy marmalade pizza and charred mustard greens with a vibrant, lively room that makes the whole evening feel like a discovery. Go hungry, go curious, and go soon before the World Cup crowd figures out it exists. Reserve →
